About
The DaVInCi@Langsam classroom and meeting space is in room 418 in the Langsam Library. It is available for teaching, meetings, presentations and other gatherings. It features a specialized large display which is capable of displaying complex content. With the right software (e.g., Sage3, Miro...), you can use this display as a large, shared canvas for collaboration and sensemaking.
Using the display in the room
You can log in to the computer under a default user: Guest User.
There is no password for this user. It has restricted abilities- cannot install new applications, etc- without administrator permission. This user is accessible to the University community accessing this space.
Regular users can create a custom sign in, please contact room administrators Jillian Aurisano or Amy Koshoffer.
The mouse and keyboard on the table in the front of the room controls the display. You can find common Windows applications and use the computer in the same way as any other Windows computer.
Recommended Application: Sage3
Sage3 is a collaborative software designed to support multiple simultaneous users in sharing information and sensemaking.

To Open Sage3: Click the icon 'Sage3', which is a large icon on the Desktop. This will open Sage3. By default it is logged in as a user managed by the DaVInCi lab.
To fully utilize Sage3, download and install the application on your laptop, at this link: Downlad Sage3. Encourage other members of your group to download Sage3 as well. When installing, it is important to log in to Sage3 as a user, not as a guest, to fully utilize its features. You can use a Google or Apple login. There is also a way to login using UC credentials, under CILogon.
Sage3 is structured as follows: 'Hubs' (Chicago, Hawaii....) are servers. Within each hub there are 'Rooms', which have multiple 'Boards'. We suggest joining the 'Chicago' hub, and the 'LANGSAM' room, and the 'default' board. This board is available to anyone.
Navigate the Display Wall Sage3 application to the Chicago / LANGSAM / default hub, room and board.
You can then navigate to the same room, hub and board on your laptop. Other members of your group can navigate to this board as well.
Once in the board, everyone can have a pointer on the Display. Everyone can project their screen or a window on their screen onto the canvas on the display in Sage3, similar to screen sharing in Zoom or Teams. However, multiple people can share their screens or windows at once. More details on this feature is available in Sage3 documentation.
In addition, you can drag and drop images, movies, pdf files onto the display.
Sage3 has a built-in web browser, so you can directly open website on the display.

Note: Sometimes hubs take time to load, and may appear unavailable. If you wait a minute, and refresh the hub list, the Chicago hub typically appears.
We suggest clearing out all content and applications after ending your session.
